This policy explains what personal information Skiffbits collects when you use skiffbits.com.au, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
The short version: we collect what we need to send you your order and nothing more, we do not sell your information to anyone, and you can ask us to delete it.
What we collect
When you place an order: your name, email address, delivery address, phone number if you give one, and the details of what you bought.
When you contact us: your email address and whatever you tell us in your message.
When you create an account: your email address, a password (stored encrypted — we cannot see it), and your order history.
Automatically: standard web server information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visited.
Payment information
We do not collect or store your card details. Payments are processed by our payment provider, who handles your card information directly under their own security standards and privacy policy. We receive only confirmation that a payment succeeded and the last few digits of the card.
Why we collect it
To process and send your order, to contact you about it, to handle returns and warranty claims, to keep basic business records as required by law, and to answer your questions.
We will only send you marketing email if you have asked for it, and every such email will have an unsubscribe link that works.
Who we share it with
We share the minimum necessary with:
- Our payment provider — to take payment
- Australia Post and couriers — your name and delivery address, so your parcel arrives
- Our web host and Cloudflare — which serve and protect this site
- Our email provider — to send order confirmations
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We will disclose it if required by law.
Cookies
This site uses cookies to keep your shopping cart working, remember you if you log in, and understand basic site usage. You can control non-essential cookies through the consent banner shown on your first visit, and you can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time — though the cart will stop working if you block them entirely.
Where your information is held
Our site and its data are hosted on servers that may be located outside Australia, and some of the services listed above operate overseas. We take reasonable steps to use providers with appropriate security practices.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for seven years to meet Australian business record-keeping requirements. Account and marketing information is kept until you ask us to remove it.
Security
This site uses HTTPS encryption. We limit administrative access and keep the site updated. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the protection of your information seriously and will tell you promptly if a breach affects you.
Accessing, correcting or deleting your information
Email info@skiffbits.com.au and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, or delete it. We may need to keep order records where the law requires it, and we will say so if that applies.
We will respond within 30 days.
Children
Many of the classes we supply are sailed by juniors. This site is intended for adults, and we ask that anyone under 18 have a parent or guardian place the order.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, contact us first and we will try to resolve it. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
We will update this page if our practices change, and the date below will tell you when we last did.
